Mardi Gras Buffet + Train Ride

Boarding begins 20 minutes prior to each departure.

Passengers age 2 and younger ride for FREE on lap of ticket-holding adult. Please reserve a FREE "Lap Rider" ticket.

Escape to New Orleans with authentic cajun cusine presented in partnership with Tre' Vione's resturant.  After a buffet meal served inside the Tell City Depot, we bring the party onboard for a train ride along the Ohio River valley, complete with festive music, signature cocktails, and onboard activities.  

MENU OPTIONS:

ENTRÉE (pick one)

• Gumbo - The essence of Cajun cooking. A heavy dark soup that starts with brown "roux," a mixture of flour and butter that is slow cooked at high temperatures to create a unique flavor.  Generous amounts of onions, bell peppers, celery, chicken, and sausage add substance to the soup.  A special selection of spices gives the gumbo its power.

• Red Beans & Rice - (Available as a vegetarian dish by request during checkout.) An important tradition on Mondays in "Da Bayou."  Red beans are soaked overnight, boiled down and seasoned with a blend of spices.  Sausage, onions, and bell peppers round out the flavor.

• Gwen's Jambalaya - This is the one your friends rave about when they return from the trip to "Da Bayou."  The name is derived from the French (Ham or Jambon), and Spanish (rice or aya).  A gourmet combination of herbs, fresh vegetables, sausage and chicken stewed down with a stock.  Rice is then added to absorb the juice, resulting in a truly delicious experience. 

DESSERT

• King Cake - This dessert is a staple of New Orleans meals during Mardi Gras season.  The symbolism of the King Cake draws its roots from the Christian faith, which teaches that Jesus Christ was revealed as God incarnate to the Three Kings who came to visit him after his birth.  Traditionally, the King Cake is baked with a small plastic, porcelain, or even gold figurine of a baby, representing Jesus as an infant.  Whichever person receives the slice of cake with the small baby figurine is responsible for hosting the next king cake party or bringing the next king cake.

           *Our modern cake will NOT include a small baby figurine, so as to avoid any choking hazards.
